You’ve booked your family session, now the fun part of choosing a location! Deciding where to shoot your family session is thankfully one of the easiest parts of scheduling it! Trust me…the harder part is coordinating your outfits and getting everyone on the same page that day. That’s the real challenge. There are so many locations in the Charlotte area, from stunning parks, to spots on the lake. Here are my favorite family session location in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Families are NOT at all one size fits all. So choosing the spot to photograph YOUR family always depends on size, personality and preference. But, these spots are usually workable for any size family and that’s why they made my list.

Also, if you have a family property or somewhere that would be personal to you, don’t hesitate to ask. Run it by me & I will let you know if it is something that would work for your session! Get creative & let’s tell your family’s story.

Historic Latta Plantation

This may be one of my favorite locations. Why? You get so much variety here. Not only do you have Lake access, there are tons of trails that have the pretty coverage of trees. In all seasons it is different, but thats what makes it so unique. If you choose to do your session here,  we will chat about what areas you a drawn to so we can make your session perfect for you & your family!

Freedom Park

All times of the year, Freedom Park is an awesome choice for your family session. Located in Uptown Charlotte, Freedom Park has a the most beautiful weeping willow trees, walking paths & bridges. If you are wanting to do something in Charlotte with an elegant old town feel this is a great spot. It can be pretty crowded on the weekend, so it is a better option for weekday shoots.

Blythe Landing

The lake never gets old for a family session. Blythe Landing is such a pretty place do do a session. With docks & even sometimes a couple boats in the background I love this location as an option for your family session. It is a weekday only kind of place because on the weekends it is always crowded. But if you love the lake scene this is the place for you.

Downtown Davidson Campus

Wow! I love shooting family sessions here. There is so many different options. The pretty arches, the lovely greenery in the summer & fall foliage through the fall months. It never disappoints.

Downtown Davidson

Along with the Campus of Davidson College, Downtown Davidson is a fun option as well. A lot of times I will do a little bit of both in a session. Starting at the campus & ending downtown. With all of the character, it is so fun. If your kids love soda, or even ice cream this is the perfect spot. I even love ending your session with some cute candids with your family eating ice cream or getting sodas from the local soda shop.

Fisher Farms

Fisher Farms is a little park outside of Charlotte in Davidson. It has been quite a while since I shot at Fisher Farms because it is so busy with family session around the fall. The fall is when Fisher Farms really shines. But recently I LOVED my session here. It has more of a southern feel, but did not disappoint.

Uptown Charlotte

I typically shoot engagement sessions in Uptown Charlotte, but I would love to do more families uptown. First Ward Park & Uptown skyline is the perfect fun place to do a shoot with your family!

Your Home

If you have a property that is beautiful or a place that the public doesn’t have access to, lets take advantage of it! I love doing sessions at places that at personal to you. As well as in your home. What is better than photographing kids in their element!
