I met Jordan & Jake in downtown Franklin for their engagement session & it was such a fun night. They are the sweetest couple & I wanted to share a little bit of their story. That being said, here is a little glimpse from Jordan on how they met. “The funniest part about the story of how Jake and I met was that for years he thought I was a boy. The best part about the way we met is because my best friend married his best friend. We spent 4 years living on the same 4 blocks of Marshall University with all the same friends going to the same parties and somehow never ran into each other. He always knew who, “Jordan” was by way of his friends but never realized I was actually a girl! Being from West Virginia, Jake has grown up an avid Marshall fan and has attended every home football game since he was a kid. I was fortunate enough to be a cheerleader in college so I like to joke that he was devoted from the beginning because he never missed one of my games, even though he never knew me while I was in undergrad. I graduated in 2016 and my job relocated me to Louisville, KY. but after about 4 months I was brought back to Huntington which is where I finally saw Jake.
I met my best friend Kara at a clinic my senior year of high school when we both were trying out for Marshall Cheerleading. You know when you meet a person and you know they’re going to be in your life forever? That person for me was Kara. Kara and I lived together in college and in 2013 when she brought around this guy named, “Jordan” I was obviously not happy because I was supposed to be her, “Jordan”. Well, turns out this boy was the one she would marry and I have been great friends with him ever since. So much so that I would go over and visit Kara and Jordan in their new apartment a couple times a week when I moved back. During that time Jordan got a new roommate named Jake and Kara told me I would like him because he was funny, good looking and a truly good person, so naturally I immediately had no interest. Turns out that Jake and Jordan have been friends for years through the Engineering school at Marshall but again, I had somehow never met him.
When we finally met one night when I was visiting them after I had been at the gym so obviously I looked pretty good. While I was there Kara brought up that I have a massive cat named Louis so we began talking and sharing pictures of our pets. Jake always said he knew from the day he met me that we were going to be together. So much so that when Kara took a snapchat of us sharing pictures and sent it to us as a joke, he took a screenshot and has secretly kept that, and every other memorable momento during our 5 years together that he shared with me on the night we got engaged. Although it was not that easy at first; it took him a while to convince me to go out with him. so much so that I told him no for a couple of months before I agreed to go on a date with him. I am glad I said yes.”

Gosh can we just talk about the sunset ending for this Franklin Tennessee Engagement Photoshoot ?!?! It is not very often that you actually get to see a dreamy sunset like this by the time we are done shooting. Gosh I love these two & cannot wait for their wedding next fall. If you loved this session & want to see more, you should check out our most recent photoshoot for the fall with Andrew & Rebecca. If you like Smores & campfires. This is a good one!
